It can be said with confidence that young women of the 21st century have more opportunities for enlightenment than in the entire history. Perhaps, even before you started raising a kindergarten, you played for the football team, took a dance class, or took violin lessons using the Suzuki method. At home, I played words on the computer in a sing-song manner and began to write my name. Until that moment, when you started going to middle school, you probably realized that you don’t have enough time to catch up with everything that is included in the schedule.

However, time is spent between ballet class and piano lessons, biology and Spanish lessons, literary creativity and cross-country.

(driving a bicycle along the intersections of the city. – Ed. note.

.). These are the basis of etiquette, the simplest rules of behavior.

Many times, the young ladies were required to take lessons in good manners, where they were taught about the rules of etiquette and how to behave. This was accepted long before everyone began to spend their youth preparing for higher education, work and financial independence.

Progress is a priority, and no one wants to collapse at the turning point. However, no matter how successful a student, or a young lawyer, or a talented artist, put yourself in an unimportant position, if you don’t even start writing letters, accept compliments, learn and develop sympathy, you won’t be able to make any comments about proper table setting or those yak Trace of notification to the request.

The practice of such speeches does not cost a penny; their knowledge and practice will surely bring significant dividends throughout life.

“As soon as they don’t get caught up with a young lady in the local community, they should look for them behind the cordon.”

Jane Austen, "Northanger Abbey"

“What’s wrong with this Jane Austen?” At one time or another, all of their playmates were assigned a value: a friend, a family member, a colleague, an observer, or a math teacher who caught you reading “Emmy” at your desk during class. “She died two hundred times ago! Vaughn wrote stories about simpletons who desperately try to make friends with other simpletons from high class! What significance can these books have in the twenty-first century?”

It is impossible to tell the truth about this supply. How can one explain the pure joy that the reader perceives when two clever, complex and sometimes quarrelsome characters decide to make good their differences? They will live happily ever after, regardless of any circumstances, just as Jane Austen said, so be it! How to describe the taste of what you feel in the unknown, but luxurious world of balls, long lasting trips with different crews and handsome young men? How can I explain that the most beautiful thing about the world of Jane Austen is that she has no understanding of what her characters exactly the same as you?

As you nod, Good Reader, then this book is for you. We are not going to grumble at those who want to deal with the restrictions of the right to control power, with the ballroom selections and the delicate rules of behavior in the ballroom. (But your imagination is stalled because you don’t know about the folded etiquette, let’s say, a rank visit with the witness).

Our intention is to help you to understand the secrets of life of the rural aristocracy of Britain in the 19th century. The stench was not the same as Jane Austen wrote about her companions. Our professional instructions allow anyone to conduct their life with inimitable aplomb, or better understand the body on which the stories for Lizzie, Emmy, Elinor, Katherine, Fanny and Anne in the novels of the same file were born. max.

Have you ever wondered about Mr. Darcy's wealth, which amounts to ten thousand pounds a river today? Why should Emma Woodhouse be so astonished at Koksiv, and not at Westoniv? Why did Lady Russell spend her winter in Bath, and Fanny Price was sheltered in Portsmouth until a man came for her and took her away? These are discussed in the first section of the book, which deals with the historical rules of life of the English nobility in the Regency era.

In another section we understand how ladies spend the day in an era when a noble lady does not want to work.

In the third section, you are desperate for love and whore, and you learn the important rules that will help you find the next guy.

And since Mrs. Bennet in “Pride and Preemption” pointed out that a family can pay for an evening meal with at least a maximum of twenty families, then you should know how to deal with socialites calls. The fourth section is devoted to special meals of dances, evenings at the map and various card games, including still lively, high and deadly boring, news.

We also included in the book a short biography of Jane Austen, a short summary of her novels, and stories about the works of Austen’s current rogues: films, sequels, and paraliterature.

A handy dictionary will help everyday readers understand the terms.

People may argue that Jane Austen's attributes of light are not important, only history matters. Others point out that life in the hours of Jane Austen was not only a matter of fun and excitement: intelligent and young ladies were left without the means to sleep, soldiers and sailors went to war and did not return, and beloved writers were forced to die. or need to be young.

Like Jane herself, I, as much as I can, am inspired by such greedy topics. Let the richly monstrous scholars of Jane Austen write about seeming misfortunes and misfortunes. This book is for those naughty writers who are entirely content with living in the present world, but who from time to time allows themselves to be in the world of the author. Who among us has not considered himself a sovereign (or sovereign) of Pemberley or a distinguished frigate, or perhaps one of the characters? Damn it, admit it!

As Mrs. Elizabeth Bennet said, “Mr. Darcy’s squad owes their mother such an unexpected sense of happiness, bound up with her position, so that she has no reason to be upset.” The careful mischief-maker Jane Austen can remember the lesson of Katherine Morland from “Northanger Abbey,” who forgot that real life is not like the books, and the very reasonable hero Henry Tillney learned that it is natural to crave the charm of a well-written novel. Jane's novels are so believable that after two centuries they will no longer be fresh, funny and - well - as relevant as ever.

Dear Reader, the stroller is checking. Why will you sit in it and why will you allow it to take you away from great advantage?

Part I
The world of Jane Austen. Please kindly

Like a witch-haired lady

“It’s amazing to me,” said Bingley, “how young ladies wear out the patience of the floors that stink... Leather paints pictures, embroiders screens and weaves gamanties. I don’t think I know, I would like one, I wouldn’t have caught anyone, and they would sing about how I felt more stubborn about the young lady, they told me obligingly that she’s done it to the end.”

"Pride and advance"

Young ladies of good family are obliged to drink a whole bouquet in memory, which does not have any practical significance, but which is even more useful for gentlemen. No one is fond of cleverly playing the piano, translating Italian love songs, painting, embroidering screens, weaving hammants and demonstrating other talents of a true lady. They are undergoing an intensive training process that begins in childhood and continues until the next day of fun, after which the ladies can quietly rest on their laurels.

There are a few words. Of course, you must freely use French and Italian to read notes and translate love songs. And there’s not much to read about the Latin and Greek axis, otherwise you risk being killed by a blue panchoha.

A GENTLEMAN'S AUTHORITY

The boys begin to be read and written by their fathers, the family governesses, and the parish priest. Since only they are equal to ten rocks, they receive more formal coverage: start Latin and Greek, mathematics, history and literature. For this reason, private teachers are hired. These gentlemen can give lessons to as many boys as they come before them, or live with the family as tutors. Other boys run private schools like Eton or Rugby.

A young man who has decided to take holy orders or who simply has the honor to study can spend a few semesters or get a step in Oxford or Cambridge. At the end of the eighteenth century, the young successor of the great masters of the “Grand Tour” went up to the continent with the term five rocks. However, this tradition was interrupted by the Napoleonic Wars from 1803 to 1815. At such a high price, the young man learned his language, absorbed culture, became a mandravnik and gained objects of mysticism.

Once a young person has acquired a profession, apprenticeships are available to him. A new barrister may practice law as a member of the bar. Eight-year-old boys were taken to the Royal Navy as “the captain’s servants” without pay. They lived on the ship and learned the mystique of commanding it. Then they became naval midshipmen, or junior officers, and earned higher ranks for years.

Understand the basics of geography and history. The young lady should concentrate exclusively on the basics, if you want to learn more, books from your dad’s library will help you.

Become a good musician. A lady who can sing and play the piano or, better yet, the harp, will definitely know her own person. We think that she is smart enough to entertain her guests in the evenings. Lots of wives stop playing music, they just want to get married, and luckily the gentlemen won’t do any harm.

Write and paint Christmas scenes. Baby sheep or watercolor - fun, good ladies. Choose painterly scenes for your paintings (see “Picturesque Scenes”, page 88). Concentrate on the ruins (the richer the camp is, the better for it); felled trees and simply the rural landscapes will also come. Since real life has nothing to do with the red carpet, vikorist in reality.

Master the mysticism of visivannya. To become a furred woman, you must embroider fashionable sweatshirts, as well as sew for your family. After replacing most of the everyday work, others will do the same for you. The married wife is first responsible for everything: sewing the man’s shirts, cribs and the grace of the family’s speech. It’s great that ladies can show off their embroidery and decorative crocheting to their guests.

Feel like dancing gracefully. The ballroom is the center of the young lady’s life. If you don’t dance at balls yet, then, of course, you dream about it. Practice with your sisters until you can officially go out in front of the world (div. “Going Out in the World,” page 205).

OSVITA LADY

Most of the young women received enlightenment with the help of a number of teachers. The skin has been applied for the sake of one thing: as a result, it is not enough to leave an elegant creation, as it is not enough to add lightness, or you would like not to lose yourself as an old maid. Well, who is the one who gave credit for the lady’s beginnings?

? Old men. In many families, mothers of girls taught them to read and write, learn simple arithmetic and some basic French. Father's girls can also take part in her ordination, especially those who are ordained. This could have been the only formal information that the girl received, since the fathers did not hire a governess for her or did not send her to school at the age of ten.

? Governess. The good governess taught the young lady history, geography and language, and created an elegant handwriting. She taught the girl to paint, sew and embroider, play the piano and, perhaps, the harp, and also sing and sing elegantly. The governess lost her family, and all the girls in the house never married. Sometimes the governess became deprived of the family as a companion for the mother or unmarried daughters.

? Readers. The readers who came, appreciated the illumination of the young woman. They thoroughly developed their skills in music, painting, language and dancing. The locality knew the best readers, but in the rural locality, the neighbors hired many teachers, who started all the young ladies of the locality.

? School. Since the fathers of the girls respect the fact that it is better not to hire a governess, and the girl is an orphan, and for some other reasons, she does not need a place to live, within ten years they could have been sent to school, but she stayed until the end twelve. If they wanted the girl to be ready for her debut with the world, they could take them from school from sixteen rocks. London and Bath's schools, often called seminaries for young ladies, were more formal and fashionable. A young girl, who has received light in such a situation, can play music, paint, embroider, beautifully crumble and behave correctly. Sometimes this note is bought at the price of the girl’s health or gives her a sense of valuable value. The lucky ones were sent to good old-fashioned boarding houses, from which they came out healthy, happy and kind. Such girls could now improve their knowledge with additional books from their father’s library.

How to define “yakness”

Ann Eliot:“My statement about good company, Mr. Elliott, is the succession of sensible, well-informed people, which will miraculously absorb Rosmova’s news. This is what I call a garnish company.”

Mr Elliot:“You have mercy,” he said softly, “this is not just good company, but the best. For a good company you need more people, knowledge and manners, and knowledge is not always good.”

"Bring the rozuma"

Regardless of those who have no trace of snobbery, they know exactly the place of any acquaintance in the social squabble. This information itself allows people to choose the right people and host company. If you are not aware of the status of a particular person, please provide confirmation for the upcoming meal.

What's the point of this family? Since she has relatives among the aristocrats, this people, who have seen everything, are well received. If you say that among ordinary people you are his relatives, then you don’t care that people are filthy. Similar family connections may be the legacy of an unreasonable love for the family.

What is the name or title? Don’t expect that you will get along with the real aristocracy - either with the lords or ladies - as the stench will only be associated with the closest noble families. Or you can become a baronet, whose ancestor took away the title from Charles II or received rewards from the person for his service to the crown. You can finally meet the Duke's son. Let's get to know this according to reference, you will have to patch up the barriers of pride and Marnoslavism, as well as powerful concerns.

How long have you been living in the same place? How many generations of this family of people have been squawking at you, living in the same room, the stench is insanely lying down to the gentry. If this family marries secularism, then it will be unacceptable for you to spend a lot of time in the marriage of these people. Some members of the family can decide to live and conduct themselves in the best possible order, and getting to know them can be accepted, since the family’s decisions do not need to bother them.

Who does Volodya use, who uses a great booth, who rents a booth? Many great fortunes were made through trading. This is pleasant, since part of the mill was spent on adding land, or I would like a firehouse, which allows the merchant to live and accept.

How often do you have to practice this in order to calm yourself? Although you may be involved in a pleasant profession, connected, for example, with the church, the army or law, the work is not very demanding. I'm afraid, in most families, young people will get rid of their own worries. Prote robot in trade or on the farm, not as the boss of the enterprise, does not allow people to be accepted into small families, since only the stink is not very strong and representatives of the gentry are especially liberal.

Is it alive and how do you behave like this, how to treat people who are married? Perhaps the most important thing is to take it to the utmost respect. Kindness and good manners can compensate for your behavior. Such a person can be called “good company” in all other respects. No one wants to spend an hour with someone who has bad manners.

The elegance of manners and the people themselves, the world and the way of living can richly compensate. For these reasons, the leaders themselves can enjoy the best company.

How rich are you? It's not as important as you might think. Pennies can be rich, but the pursuit of riches is more important. A girl from a noble homeland, but penniless, can be blessed and a good person. Those same gentlemen are fussing about the land, but without cooking, or the young sons with a rich profession. I want people to be incredibly rich in order to compensate for their suspicions.

POLIOVY DOVIDNIK FOR SOCIAL PARTNERSHIP

? Royals: King George III, Queen Charlotte and his more numerous and troubleless offspring.

? Aristocracy: titled individuals who occupy a seat in the House of Lords, their families, as well as untitled individuals, even rich ones from ancient homelands or associated disputes with the pens of England. Such people appear in the novels of Georgette Heyer and the novels of the Regency era, but rarely appear in the novels of Jane Austen.

? Gentry(untitled noble nobility): old families with badges of different sizes. All of Jane Austen's characters may be included in this group. A good walk is more important for the camp. Work in jurisprudence, the army and the church is permissible, as it is common for people to work. Those who have closed the camp of trade, and by adding cards, can be accepted into this group, as they have lost their shops, warehouses and live as is suitable.

? Traders and yeomen(Farmers of the middle hand): the rich are not distinguished from the gentry, because they do not work to satisfy themselves. Since the stinks are already rich and contaminated, they can turn into a number of their own kind. Also, good traders should not go beyond the boundaries of their stake, so that they are not respected with vulgar remarks.

? Golota: workers, servants, evildoers. Stinks rarely appear in Jane Austen's novels, and even without explanation.

How to ensure a rich river income

Mr. Darcy quickly won the respect of all those present with his tall, thin figure, hot rice, and noble demeanor. Five weeks after he appeared, everyone already knew that there were ten thousand on the river.

"Pride and advance"

In marriage, where people are judged by the camp, it is important to secure an income for yourself, which allows the mother to do everything necessary. Fortunately, there are many ways to take care of yourself.

Save your money. In fact, a great camp includes at least one great machine, which will provide a steady income from rent and the sale of products, as well as penny investments that will bring in hundreds. The ladies can subside the mat, but they rarely cross the female line (wonder “Who died and made Mr. Collins the slayer of Longbourn?”). The relaxation of the mattresses does not guarantee a turbo-free sleep, so they need to be properly cared for, give proper attention, otherwise there is a risk of wasting it.

Earn money. There are a number of noble professions acceptable for a gentleman: church, army and law (see “Acceptable Human Professions”). Ladies would rather use one of the other methods described here, because the few professions available to them are poorly paid (div. “How ladies can earn a living if necessary”).

SUMMARY INCOME EQUIVALENTS

Although Jane Austen accurately names the sum of the special qualities of her characters, it is important to evaluate the situation from two centuries ago. Acting experts simply repeat multiplying the number fifty. So, ten thousand on Mr. Darcy's river is worth a million pounds or perhaps a million dollars.

Economist J. Bradford DeLong of the University of California, Berkeley, appreciates that simply multiplying does not tell the whole story. Please pay attention to the clear purchase price of the sum at a specific hour at a specific place. At that time, goods cost dearly, but work was cheap. As soon as 100 pounds were paid, the lodger paid 10 pounds for the river plus accommodation and food. Dr. DeLong estimates Mr. Darcy's income at 6 million dollars per river.

Despite his popularity, Mr. Darcy was not the richest man in Britain and never came close to achieving such a title. For example, the Duke of Devonshire's income was estimated at six figures. The deeds confirm that the Duke's very own bedchat - Chatsworth - having inhaled Jane Austen, I will describe Pemberley, Mr. Darcy's name. But Mister Darcy, with his ten thousand income, could not exceed Chatsworth. We would like to point out that Pemberley's mother, although not so luxurious, is ideal for Mr. and Mrs. Darcy.

Make sure you spend your pennies. Ladies who are in the mood for cooking should be wise to invest money in the Fund and live on hundreds. That's 4–5 hundred thousand per river. Apparently, gentlemen who have not yet added their money, can snatch a wonderful income from this method. Many drops include investments of pennies and coins.

Make friends on pennies. It's not as simple as you might think. One great camp is looking for another great camp. Prote ladies who are worth less than a penny of four thousand pounds can go out of their way to spend their crew and pennies on stilettos. Dekhto insists that it is good to get married - this is not the burden of a young lady. However, marrying only a girl is not necessarily a good idea, since the girl does not end up in an unpleasant situation or does not choose a partner who is easy to control. If such a partner does not demand any expectations, then a relationship with him is the most suitable for a married woman. And the young son can recognize the great and amusing whore from the already secured lady.
