Connecting iPhone to TV via usb. How to connect iPhone to TV via WiFi and USB cable and not only - all ways to connect.

Agree, watching movies on TV is much nicer than on a tablet or smartphone, even if we are talking about equipped with wonderful modern devices from Apple. The problem is that the procedure for displaying the image is not always obvious, and in this material we will try to tell you how to enjoy watching your favorite video on the big screen.

Modern devices are not equipped with a proprietary Lightning connector, for which a variety of accessories are produced for a variety of purposes. One of these additions is the Digital AV Adapter, which includes an adapter for the HDMI interface, which is equipped with most modern TVs. The whole task is to connect the adapter to the device and connect it to the TV using an HDMI cable. Then you simply select the desired input in the TV menu, turn on the video, and voila - everything is ready for a twenty-first century film show. This method allows you to broadcast an image resolution of both HD Ready (720p) and Full HD (1080p), which allows you to use it in conjunction with most popular applications. Digital AV Adapter can be purchased both from third-party vendors offering low-cost accessories. For older devices is offered, which, unfortunately, does not support Full HD video.

Component / Composite Input

The above method is great for HD TVs. But what to do if the unit available at hand doesn't support high resolution or you just can't remember where the HDMI cable was lying around (yes, it happens)? Another standard comes to the rescue, which the people have received the affectionate nickname "tulip". The correct name for this cable is composite. Adapters for this case, there are many, and we need Apple calls the "Combined AV-cable." Do not forget that in this case the quality of the output signal is limited to the standard resolution.

Apple TV and AirPlay

Perhaps there could be another smart accessory from Apple, but it’s already 2015, isn't it? Wireless technologies are entering our lives more and more firmly, and the broadcast of video "through the air" has long been transformed from fiction into a completely ordinary reality. The main way to connect iOS devices to a TV without wires is a proprietary set-top box. This bundle allows you to use the technology AirPlay, which allows you to literally literally anything. For example, you can transfer to the big screen what is happening on the display of the device in real time (the Display Mirroring function) or even turn the gadget into a real game controller. To do this, you need to connect the console and tablet to home network   Wi-Fi, and then turn on the AirPlay option on the device from the iOS Control Center, where you can select the broadcast on Apple TV.

Don't want to spend money on a great Apple console or are you just using Chromecast? It does not matter - you can connect the "apple" device in this case too. Of course, full-fledged integration into the Apple ecosystem of such a decision is impossible, because the kid is in many ways competing with Apple TV, but something is available now. For example, the YouTube app and the client of Netflix, which is not yet operating in Russia, support the transfer to Chromecast, and this may be only the beginning. The search giant itself produces a branded "companion" for its gadget, which promises support for popular services. In addition, there are third-party programs with which you can stream photos and videos even from your own iOS library library, such as CastNow. Another program, Video & TV Cast, besides working with the media library, also offers a convenient browser, according to the assurances of the developers, for viewing videos from the Web. Unfortunately, reviews of the work of such applications are often unsatisfactory, which is understandable in the case of an alien platform for Apple.

Editing the site is not responsible for the consequences of using non-original accessories, as well as software supplied by third-party developers.

One of the possible actions that can be done with the iPhone is to transfer video (as well as photos and music) from the phone to the TV. And this does not require the prefix Apple TV or something like that. All you need is a modern TV with Wi-Fi support - Samsung, Sony Bravia, LG, Philips and any other.

In this material - ways to transfer video (movies, including online, as well as your own video, filmed on camera), photos and music from your iPhone to TV via Wi-Fi.

Connect to TV to play

To make the description possible, the TV must be connected to the same wireless network (to the same router) as your iPhone (the TV can also be connected via LAN).

If the router is not available - iPhone can be connected to the TV via Wi-Fi Direct (most TVs with wireless support also support Wi-Fi Direct). To connect, it is usually enough to go to the iPhone in the settings - Wi-Fi, find the network with the name of your TV and connect to it (the TV must be turned on). The network password can be viewed in the Wi-Fi Direct connection settings (in the same place as other connection settings, sometimes you need to select the option to manually configure the function) on the TV itself.

We show videos and photos from the iPhone on the TV

All Smart TV can play videos, images and music from other computers and other devices using the DLNA protocol. Unfortunately, the iPhone by default does not have media transfer functions in this way, however, third-party applications specifically designed for this purpose can help.

Such applications in the App Store abound, presented in this article were selected on the following principles:

  • Free or rather shareware (it was not possible to find completely free) without significant limitation of functionality without payment.
  • Convenient and properly working. I tested it on Sony Bravia, but if you have LG, Philips, Samsung or some other TV, everything will most likely work just as well, and in the case of the second application in question, it may be better.

Note: when launching applications, the TV should already be turned on (no matter which channel or with which incoming source) and connected to the network.

Allcast TV

Allcast TV is the application that in my case turned out to be the most efficient. A possible disadvantage is the absence of the Russian language (but everything is very simple). Free on the App Store, but includes in-app purchases. Restriction of the free version - you can not run a slideshow from photos on the TV.

Transfer video from iPhone to TV in Allcast TV as follows:

As promised, separately on the item "Browser" in the program, very useful in my opinion.

If you open this item, you will be taken to a browser where you can open any site with online video (in HTML5 format, in this form movies are available on YouTube and on many other sites. Flash, as far as I understand, is not supported) and after the launch of the movie online in the browser on the iPhone, it will automatically start playing on the TV (no need to keep the phone with the screen on).

TV Assist

I would put this free application in the first place (free, there is a Russian language, a very nice interface and without noticeable limitations of functionality), if it worked in my tests completely (perhaps, the features of my TV).

Using TV Assist is similar to the previous version:

However, in my case, the application could not detect the TV (the reasons were not clear, but I think it was my TV), neither by a simple wireless connection, nor by Wi-Fi Direct.

At the same time, there is every reason to believe that your situation may be different and everything will work, since the application still works: because when viewing available network media resources from the TV itself, the contents of the iPhone were visible and playable.

Those. I did not have the opportunity to start playback from the phone, but to watch the video from the iPhone, initiating the action on TV - no problem.

In conclusion, I’ll note another application that didn’t work properly for me, but maybe it will work for you - C5 Stream DLNA (or Creation 5).

It is free, in Russian and, judging by the description (and internal content), it supports all the necessary functions for playing video, music and photos on a TV (and not only - the application can play videos from DLNA servers). At the same time, the free version has no restrictions (but shows ads). When I checked, the application "saw" the TV and tried to show content on it, but from the TV itself came an error (you can view the responses of the devices in C5 Stream DLNA).

This concludes and I hope that everything worked out right the first time and that you are already viewing many of the footage shot on the iPhone on the big screen TV.

There are many situations where the usual, but the small screen of the iPhone is simply not enough. For example, we want to show our photos to friends, enjoy the film in full or present the presentation slides to our colleagues. If there is a large diagonal TV nearby, we can easily use it for this purpose.

There are the following types of iPhone connection to the TV: wired (using an HDMI cable) and wireless (provides for Apple TV and wi-Fi networks). The choice of the algorithm of actions depends on the preferences of the user, his budget, as well as models of devices.

Lighting HDMI Adapter

Thanks to ultra-portability, the Digital AV adapter guarantees minimum space and connection time. Since the presented adapter is not capable of displaying a “raw” HDMI signal through a cable, the signal will be converted and this can lead to slight quality losses.

If you need to make a connection on the go (for example, in a hotel room or office), then the Digital AV HDMI adapter cable is definitely a good choice. It does not require any Wi-Fi settings and easily connects to any device with an HDMI connector. All you need to do is:

  1. Connect the adapter first to the phone, and then to the TV, using any HDMI cable;
  2. iPhone will automatically detect the new screen and play photos, videos, and other content on it.

Connect via AV cable

If the TV is not equipped with an HDMI connector, an analog connector will come to the rescue. Depending on the iPhone model, you just need to pick up the required cable.

For 3G / 4 / 4s devices, a composite or component (with the appropriate connector) AV cable is suitable, and for newer gadgets, you can use a VGA Lighting adapter.

The connection sequence is similar, the iPhone also has to identify the TV and display the content being played on it.

Apple TV: Connecting iPhone to TV at home

If you intend to connect the phone at home, then we recommend that you choose Apple TV, a special console from Apple, which greatly expands the multimedia capabilities of all your devices. Apple TV will allow you to:

  • Control the process of controlling the TV wirelessly, without limiting yourself with a short HDMI cable;
  • Play media files stored on your computer, local file storage or from the Internet (after installing special software);
  • Use the AirPlay function, which implements the transmission of photos and videos directly from your devices without the need to copy to a computer or other stationary storage.

Apple TV receives signals from Airplay and acts as a bridge between mobile i-devices connected to this technology and a regular TV. The media player itself is connected to the TV using an HDMI cable and is connected to the existing Wi-Fi network. Its initial setup takes about 10 minutes, and after it the iPhone can connect to Apple TV in no time.

To connect you need:

  1. Make sure that the iPhone and Apple TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network;
  2. Start playing any audio or video content on the iPhone.
  3. Open the control center (hold your finger across the display from the bottom up);
  4. Click "Airplay" and select "Apple TV".
  5. Video from the iPhone screen is transferred to the TV screen.

In addition, you can use AirPlay Mirroring to display an exact 1: 1 copy of an iPhone display on a large screen. Choosing this option, you should note that it is not suitable for the iPhone below the fourth model, and is also incompatible with the first generation of Apple TV media players.

Advantages and disadvantages of the option

The multiplayer version has some advantages over the first options, namely:

  • convenience;
  • best value for money;
  • connecting any iDevice;
  • image management without getting up from the sofa;
  • access (using native applications) to the media library even without turning on the iPhone.

Other options are awaiting users in the near future. Among its shortcomings:

  • high price (Lighting adapter costs less);
  • lack of portability (recommendation for home use only);
  • the constant need of high-speed Internet (cable video is more stable).

Finally, we bring to your attention a couple of videos with a visual demonstration of the connection process:

If you are a user of an expensive phone, then at any time you can connect it to an additional device and use it. How to connect the iphone to the TV, few people know. Is it possible to connect any phone with TV, how to synchronize devices and what will come out of it.

Connecting an iPhone to a TV is easy. In order to connect a TV and a model of an iPhone 5 series using an HDMI cable, you also need a digital AV adapter. As a rule, it comes with the device. If, when connecting, you notice that it is not there, then you will need to buy it in the store or as an option to use the services of an online store.

Please note: when asking how an iPhone can be connected to a Smart TV, the answer can be uniquely one. Firstly, only devices of the series four and higher can be connected. Secondly, all the phones that were released earlier are deprived of this function. To connect new models will need a different adapter - Lightning.

When buying an HDML cable, it is not necessary that it be expensive. The cost of the adapter does not affect its quality, so you can take any.

How to connect

In order for the user to succeed, you need to know how to connect and how to synchronize.

  • for proper connection and synchronization, you must connect the cable to two devices;
  • AV adapter is inserted into the 30-pin connector, and HDML into the connector on the adapter;
  • HDML connects to TV. Typically, the connector is on the back panel.

Such a connection allows not only to transmit a high-quality image, but also sound. If the model of your TV is not new, then it may happen that the necessary connector is not there. In this case, you must turn on the TV and switch it to the input signal.

Please note: the quality of the transmitted signal directly depends on the device itself. If you have 4 models, then the display of the mobile will not be displayed on the screen. On it you can see the applications through which you can play music, video. Also, the game menu will be absent.

In addition, while playing the necessary information on a blue screen, you can also infect the device. To do this, you need to connect the cable for charging, as the device itself discharges very quickly.

Use analog connector

In order to know how to connect the iPhone model to the home TV via usb, you need to pay attention to the following. First of all, you will need an adapter. Everything will depend on what kind of iPhone you have.

  • If 3G, 4S, then you need to buy an AV cable from Apple. It looks like a three-pronged connector. Most often it is painted in red, yellow and white. You can also purchase a cable with 5 teeth. He in turn is blue, green, red, yellow and white.
  • For models of the 5 series, you need Lightning, which comes mainly with the phone. Using it you can connect to the VGA connector on the TV. These wires are sold separately.

Note: if you use a VGA cable, then the sound in this case connects separately. Tricolor plugs can only transfer video image.

AirPlay and Apple TV

In order to connect using this method, the TV must be of a new generation, and the telephone set must be at least 4 series. In this case, both devices should receive an update of the latest version of iOS. If this is not done, the image quality will be low.

  • Turn on AirPlay in the device;
  • iPhone connect to TV;
  • If you want all information to be displayed on the screen, then in the phone menu you need to select the control center. After that, select Apple TV and all that is in the mobile appear on TV.

In addition to Apple, many models can connect to TVs. Among them are Samsung, LG. In general, the Samsung model gives great opportunities to its users. Everything is much simpler here. All connection, as a rule, does not take place with a special cable, but with the help of wi-fi.

Using these capabilities, the user can display all the information contained in the phone, so use it and third-party sites.

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch have excellent screen resolutions. They use retina displays, achieved 2048x1536 pixels. This gives the user the opportunity not only to enjoy a clear picture on the device itself with a small screen size, but also to display a high-quality image on the home TV screen. Considering that many modern TVs have Full HD resolution, high-quality movies, videos and games from the iPhone and iPad will colorfully appear on the home panel from Sony or Samsung. In fact, paired with a TV gadget Apple can replace the video collection and game console.

To understand how to connect the iPhone to the TV, you do not need special knowledge. It is enough to use one of four connection options:

1. For regular users: special Digital AV adapter

The adapter is supplied by Apple. This small white wire allows you to transmit an image in resolution up to 1080p from an iOS device to a TV or projector. The only condition is the presence of an HDMI connector on your TV. The adapter is also equipped with a connector for charging the gadget during the transfer of the image to the TV panel.

Apple manufactures 30-pin plug adapters for iPhone 4 / 4S, iPod touch 4, iPad 2/3, priced at $ 39.00, and adapters for new devices with a Lightning connector - this category includes iPhone 5, iPod touch 5, iPad 4 and iPad mini. The price for the updated adapter is $ 49.00. Be prepared for the fact that in Russia accessories are more expensive.

2. For fans: connect via Apple TV

Just transfer to Apple TV a picture through technology. It is available on all mobile apple devices   with installed iOS 4.2 and higher. This already built-in feature will allow you to connect your iPhone to a TV without any problems in one minute.

3. For retro lovers: cable

Being a standard cable from the manufacturer, Composite AV has a 30-pin connector on one end and a charging output, and on the other, white, yellow and red composite tulips that transmit sound and video. This solution is perfect for you if your TV does not support HDMI.

Using this cable, you can connect your iPhone not only to your TV, but also to your stereo system, in order to experience the beauty of the music from your media collection. Since this technology is becoming obsolete, the Composite AV cable will most likely not be available for devices with a Lightning connector.

4. For hackers: Tweak Resupported

In fact, you still need an AV cable, just no matter which manufacturer. This can be a regular Chinese wire for $ 10. Another $ 3.99 will have to be spent on Resupported from the Cydia hacker shop. After the installation of tweaks, no manipulations are needed - plug one end of the cable into the iPhone, and the other into the TV. The picture will instantly be transmitted to the screen.

You can check the performance of the tweak by downloading the shareware version - the utility is provided for free for 10 days. Of course, Resupported only works on hacked devices that have undergone a jailbreak procedure and work on iOS 4.0 and higher.

Well, if you want to connect your iPhone not to a TV, but to a computer - you can use our advice published earlier, where we wrote about how.
